The Straits Games (TSG) 2007 :

Sawasdee Krup! Phuket Pride Association (PPA), on behalf of Groups of TSG Representatives, welcomes all participants and supporters of TSG 2007 to visit Thailand with our warmest greetings.

Background

T h e S t r a i t s G a m e s ( T S G ) started as a friendly annual sports event between LPG – Leadership Programme Graduates of Malaysia and MAW – Men After Work of Singapore, to foster friendship and promote a healthy lifestyle in the GLBT community. With the rapid growing interest of TSG, it has gradually expanded their participants from Singapore , Malaysia , Hong Kong , Japan and Thailand . This is the sixth series of annual games and we are hopeful that Australia and New Zealand will join the expanding community of nations

TSG 2007 , hosted for the second time by Phuket Pride Association (PPA), will be an even bigger schedule of sports than in 2006 by adding tennis and a non championship swimming carnival with teams comprising members from different countries. This will be the first event on the schedule and designed to be an “Ice Breaker” and fun “Get to Know You” party. Of course there will still be the three traditional sports: indoor volleyball, badminton and bowling. A number of social events will keep participants, supporters and volunteers fully occupied for the entire weekend here in Phuket. Dates of the Event

TSG 2007 has been set to be held for the second time in Phuket , Thailand , and this year it is planned to be from August 30 th till September 2 nd 2007 .

  Sports

The following sports will be played during TSG 2007:

•  Ice Breaking Pool Activities

•  Volleyball: Championship and Amateur Friendly Match (Novice)

•  Badminton: Championship and Amateur Friendly Match (Novice)

•  Tennis: Championship and Amateur Friendly Match (Novice)

•  Bowling

The organizing committee has the right to alter the format, games scheduled and dates of the tournament if necessary. Participating teams will be informed of any changes.

TSG 2007 Itinerary (Interim):

  30 th August

1:00 pm – Proceed for Phuket Island Orientation Tour

5:00 pm – Proceed to Pool Party with Welcome Reception at Hiranyikara Spa)

10:00 pm – Special Organized Welcome Party at Paradise Complex, Patong

31 st August

9:00 am – Proceed to Saphan Hin Stadium in Phuket Town

9.30am – 6.00pm Volleyball (Indoor) Competition at Saphan Hin Stadium

9.30am – 5.00pm Tennis Competition at Saphan Hin Stadium

1 st September

9:00 am – Proceed to Saphan Hin Stadium in Phuket Town

9.30am – 5.00pm Badminton Competition at Saphan Hin Stadium

2 nd September

9:30 am – Proceed to Big-C Shopping Mall in Phuket Town

10.00am – 1.00pm Bowling Competition at CS Bowl in Big-C.

Afternoon Free Time for shopping

6.00pm TSG 2007 Awards Presentation and Dinner at Club Lime

3 rd September (optional post event's group outing)

Phi Phi Island Trip by Speedboat (Cost 1,500 THB p.p.)
